The cosmopolitan city by the water combines creative urban life with nature in all its glory. Zurich is abuzz with activity day and night with its countless events, diverse museums, own food festival and Switzerland’s most vibrant nightlife. And if you’re after rest and relaxation, you can be in the Swiss mountains in less than an hour.

Alte Kaserne

Alte Kaserne

It could hardly be more central: Alte Kaserne is located on the old Kasernenareal between Zurich Main Station and the trendy Langstrasse. The site is freely accessible to the public and in summer is frequently used for large events, such as Labor Day on May 1 or Zurich Pride. It is also home to two restaurants.

However, Alte Kaserne really comes to life at night, when concerts, various party series, theater, and readings attract a mixed audience to the former military barracks. Incidentally, when the locals talk about the "Kaserne”, they are usually referring to the whole site, and not just Zeughaus 5.

The venue is renowned for its easy-going and high-spirited alternative ambiance. And after a concert or before an electro swing party, it is just a short distance away from countless restaurants and bars.

Supermarket

Supermarket

Supermarket was opened in a former garage in Zürich-West at the end of the 1990s. In those days, the now trendy quarter was an industrial wasteland – with not a sign of nightlife far and wide.

In the meantime, the quarter has developed into a stronghold of electronic music, not least because of pioneering clubs such as the “Supi”, as the locals often call the club.

Still today, Supermarket attracts partygoers with a mix of Zurich underground music and international DJs with first-class sound equipment.

Admission from 21 years of age

Club Bellevue

Club Bellevue

Situated directly by the Bellevue tram junction in Zurich, the Club Bellevue is a popular meeting place for locals, tourists and night owls from all over the world. At weekends, electronic music booms out until the early hours of the morning, while during the week, the locale serves as a venue for concerts, cultural events, or private get-togethers.

The Club Bellevue, which is renowned for its excellent sound system, is down-to-earth and frill-free. Its clientele is very mixed, and there is no dress code. Instead, great store is set by respect and consideration for others. Admission is for guests aged 25 years and over, except for at concerts.

Jade Club

Jade Club

An evening at the Jade not seldom looks like something out of a music video: beautiful women, cool guys, and sexy dance moves – and occasionally glitter confetti even rains down from the ceiling.

While the latest dance moves are demonstrated on the large dance floor, guests in the lounges – which accommodate up to 120 guests – are enjoying VIP treatment. The lounges can be reserved for private groups, but there is a minimum spend requirement. In return, VIP guests can jump the frequently long lines of people waiting to get in.

The Jade also hosts model parties and champagne events; the music is somewhere between hip-hop, house, and Latin.

Mascotte

Mascotte

This club with full lake views appeals to a wide clientele with its versatile programming that includes rock, black music, electronic, 60's to 80's, house and live concerts.

Bogen F

Bogen F

Perhaps it is the vaulted ceilings of the locale, above which trains thunder past and under which electric guitars reverberate around the room. Or perhaps it is the rough stone walls, from which the sound bounces off so wonderfully. Whatever the reason, the atmosphere at concerts held at the Bogen F are always very special and very enjoyable.

It is therefore hardly surprising that bands from all over the world like to perform at Bogen F. The size of the locale – not too big and not too small –, the relaxed and open-minded public, and the great sound system give rise to laid-back concert evenings that get under the skin of all those attending.

During the concerts, the bar service continues as usual; however, the café-bar that also belongs to Bogen F is only open on Saturday from 1pm. The entire venue can also be booked for private parties or meetings.

X-tra

X-tra

After undergoing renovation in 2017, X-tra’s various spacious rooms now present themselves in an elegant and simple white, gray, and black – a look that underscores the Bauhaus style of the listed building. However, the program at this large-scale venue has remained unchanged: popular theme parties, such as the Dark Sounds series, “More than Mode” or the “Roller Skate Disco”, as well as concerts by international stars, regularly delight the colorful mix of guests.

And they differ every evening – sometimes they are young people, who celebrate very loudly and exuberantly, sometimes they are over-40s, who have been attending events of a specific music style for over twenty years.

Hard One

Hard One

Dancing and clubbing with a spectacular view of the pulsating Zurich-West: party-goers of all ages can do just that at the Hard One club, situated between Hardbrücke Station and Escher-Wyss-Platz. During the week, guests can enjoy the same view over a drink in the elegant lounge.

In terms of music, there is something to suit each and every taste – although the salsa evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are a fixed feature on the program. During the week, the Hard One is a great place to chill out, while on weekends, it hosts parties featuring national and international DJs and well-known artists.

Dynamo

Dynamo

The Jugendkulturhaus Dynamo can look back on an eventful past. In earlier times, the site near the Main Station accommodated a spa. This was then turned into the Drahtschmidli brewery, but shortly afterwards an explosion signaled the end of the company. Subsequently, the site was taken over by the City of Zurich, and has been used as a youth cultural center since 1988. Since then, things have never stood still: the range of activities and facilities at the largest youth cultural center in Switzerland is constantly evolving in line with the needs of young people.

However, concerts and parties have always been held here. The music style is mostly rock, punk, and rap, but the events are not just popular among young people – the Dynamo registers around 200,000 admissions every year.

Mäx Club

Mäx Club

Dance-loving night owls in Zürich-West will find the Mäx Club in a prime location directly next to Hardbrücke Train Station and the Prime Tower. In the former factory hall with its old industrial ambiance, an urban clientele can enjoy a drink at the large bar, look down from the gallery on the dancing masses and the DJ console, or listen to concerts by national and international DJs or artists such as Hurts, Placebo or Samy Deluxe.

The multifunctional club, with its modern sound and light system, is a popular and versatile event platform for all partygoers over 18 years of age.
